men body languageA real man must have plenty of self-control and be a model of imperturbability. Quite many representatives of the stronger sex use this stereotype for arising female curiosity. “Does he like me or not?” – you should seek for the answer on this question not only in his words. Body language is much more truthful than words (only if your “object” is not a professional actor). It is much easier to control speech than to control your gestures and movements. So if you want to find out if he likes you or not, you should take into account not only his words, but also his behavior. Only then you will be able to get a complete idea about his feelings.

In order to put all these tips to good use, you should take into account an overall context of the situation. Don’t worry if you were not able to read the body language at once. Life's a tough deal for men, too: you may be simply nervous because you didn’t have time to powder your nose, but he can set out two dozens of leads explaining your “strange” behavior and nervousness, which he will eventually disprove by himself. But you should pay attention to trifles and develop keenness of observation.

1. MAY BE

If he starts trifling with his tie or collar, touches his neck or hair and turns toe towards you during your contribution at meeting, he is definitely interested in you. But this interest may not have any hidden motive. Maybe he is only interested in the subject of your speech.

2. I’M NOT LYING

If a man doesn’t hide his palms but, on the contrary, demonstrates and rises them during a conversation, most likely, he is sincere.

3. I WANT TO BE CLOSER

We can allow people to approach at a strictly determined distance that depends on area, where we grew up (distances of city dwellers are shorter than distances of villagers).

A classical “social” distance is about 3 meters and more; a business distance is from 1.5 to 3.5 meters; a distance for friends is from 0.75 to 1.5 meters; at last, the closest is an intimate distance. If an interlocutor tries to come closer to you, than he wants to be closer not only in the literal sense of the word.

Some people don’t like “cavalry” hit-and-run attacks and approach little by little. First they turn body towards you, next they lean over to you, and only then they move in space.

4. I WOULD FOLD YOU IN MY ARMS…

If a man spreads out his arms while speaking with you (he leans on handrails or the back of a chair), it is a hidden symbol of embrace.

5. I LIKE YOU

His touches can tell you many things.

1) If he turns his palm up during handshakes, he is ready to obey you.

2) “Glove” – his two palms embrace one palm; it expresses sincerity and friendliness.

3) If a man touches your arm or elbow, it is an expression of sympathy.

6. I WANT TO BE LIKED

A man starts smartening himself up, when he sees a woman whom he likes. He does it like some animals do during mating season. He tidies himself up “from head to foot”: he suddenly remembers that he needs to do his hair, shake off speck of dust from his shoulder, stand erect gather in his stomach, set sleeves straight and so on.

7. I DON’T NEED ANYTHING!

I don’t believe you: His forefinger touches his nose, and others cover mouth – he doesn’t believe you and doesn’t want to be completely sincere.

I want to escape: If he fiddles with his ear or rubs other parts of his face in addition to the “I don’t believe you” signal, it means that he really finds your conversation burdensome and tries to find some ways to end it and escape.

I’m not interested in you: If he prefers keeping at a considerable distance, leans in the opposite direction during a conversation or speak with you having averted his face a bit, it means that he is not especially interested in you and maybe even worse.

I feel good without you, too: languid and weak handshake means that he doesn’t want to let you come closer than arm's length.

These actions can be considered alerting, but not frightening: he buries his hands in his pockets, hides his palms, crosses his legs or arms, or hides his legs under a chair. Such behavior can be interpreted differently, depending on a situation.
