The first and most important rule when creating your profile is honesty unless you are looking just for some fun rather then a friend or a partner. So, do not lie without measure about your weight, height, eye color and social status. Lies tend to get exposed eventually. When it happens, the person who believed you will feel a great disappointment. What if this was the man you were looking for your entire life? Happiness was a few steps away and you have scared it off with your lies.

The second and equally important rule is that your profile has to be original. Do not be afraid to stand out! To be distinguished as an original and interesting person among hundreds of other people registered on the site you must know how to present yourself. Tell about your hobbies. You learn the Japanese, love to travel, play guitar, write poetry, collect teddy bears, enter dogs then write about it! Be sure there are people who are fond of the same things. And, there, you are not alone!

The third rule is correct spelling. At least try! Most of even not so literate Internet users will not finish reading a girl’s profile who wrote: "I’ve ben in Cribian once" Spelling mistakes in the profile are terribly annoying and repulsive. If you have a good sense of humor then uses it all the way! Avoid point-blank phrases (unless you want to limit people of certain categories such as age, nationality, etc). It is better to use evasive vague phrases. Do not go into details too much. Imagine you come across a profile with a page long list of requirements or reflections on the sense of life (very common case). Are you going to read it?

Define the purpose of your meeting and clarify your position; especially if you are looking just for a pan pal and socializing. State it clear that you have no intentions to meet these people in person and just want to socialize on line. Finally many dating sites (almost all popular ones) provide the opportunity to fill in additional information about yourself to help others get a better idea of you. You will be asked to respond in any form to a variety of questions related to different areas of your life. Do not ignore this suggestion. You do not have to answer all the questions. Choose at least a few and let people know more about you. Thus you will avoid meeting people who do not share your views consequently there will be fewer disappointments.
